How to Create a Windows 10/8 Installation Disk with USB Flash Drive

From now on, you don’t need to download any ISO burner for creating Windows installation disk with CD/DVD. All you need is preparing a USB flash drive with 3 GB and a computer which connected to the internet.

Microsoft has made the process of upgrading Windows system or creating Windows installation disk extremely simple. With the help of Microsoft Media Creation Tool, the process of upgrading, downloading the ISO image or creating an installation USB flash drive is pretty simple. Here I will show you how to create a Windows 10 installation disk by using USB flash drive. To create a Windows 8 installation disk is similar to this process. 1. Log on a computer which has connected to the internet. Free download Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft website. Once the download completes, run the downloaded file to install it on your computer.

2. Once you finish the installation, find and launch the program. Upon opening it, the tool will give you a few options, but we're only interested in the “Create installation media for another PC” option because just need to use it to create a Windows installation media. Select the option, and then click "Next."

3. The next screen will give you more options about what type of Windows 10 installation media you wish to create. These options were selected by default, but you will need to review the language, architecture, and edition box in case there something incorrect. Now plug in a blank USB flash drive(3 GB at least) to the computer. Click “Next” to continue.

If you want to create a Windows 8 installation disk, just to clear the selection of “Use the recommended options” and then edit the option boxes above such as language and Windows version.

4. On the “Choose which media to use” screen, select “USB flash drive” and then go on to Next.

5. On the “Select a USB flash drive” screen, make sure that the USB drive that you want to use for Windows 10 installation is displayed under the Removable drives list and is selected. Click “Next” and wait till Media Creation Tool downloads the required Windows 10 files to the USB flash drive and makes the drive bootable. This process will take about 20 minutes.

6. Once the process completes, you can use the regular method to install Windows 10 or upgrade the current operating system to it using the created USB installation disk. You also can use the Windows 10 installation disk to reset forgotten Windows 10 admin password.
