How to Fix Windows 10 Password Incorrect Error/Bug/Problem

Step 1: In Windows 10 login screen, select an admin account to log into Windows 10. If you cannot select your account after getting password incorrect error, select switch user account and then enter the user name and password.

Step 2: When you successfully get into Windows 10 system, press “Win+R” keys.

Step 3: In the run box, type “netplwiz” or “control userpasswords2” and then press Enter key.

Step 4: Select your user account from list and then check “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” option and then click “Apply”.

Step 5: Uncheck “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” and then click “Apply”. When it ask you to enter the user account password, type the password twice and then click “OK”. Close the “User Accounts” box.

Step 6: Restart the computer and then it will automatically sign into the user account correctly. The password incorrect error is fixed.

 

Solution 3: Add a New Admin Account to Windows 10 in Safe Mode. (If you cannot sign in your user account in normal mode, try this.)

If you cannot login Windows 10 after getting password incorrect error, use this solution. Though the password is not working in Windows 10 normal mode, but you can sign in the user account in safe mode. The following guide will show you how to boot Windows 10 in safe mode and then fix password incorrect error.

Step 1: Turn on your computer. When Windows 10 login screen appears, hold down “Shift” key on your keyboard and click “Restart”.

Step 2: Wait for the computer to load “Choose an option” screen. Under choose an option, select “Troubleshoot”.

Step 3: Under troubleshoot, select “Advanced options”.

Step 4: From advanced options, select “Startup Settings”.

Step 5: Now, click “Restart” to restart the computer.

Step 6: PC restarts and loads “Startup Settings”. Press 6 or F6 key to select “Enable Safe Mode with Command Prompt”.

Step 7: Windows 10 boots in safe mode and loads login screen. Select your user account and enter the password to login.

Step 8: Command Prompt window appears, run the following commands.

1. Type “net user Peter 123456 /add” and then press Enter key.

2. Type “net localgroup administrators Peter /add” and then press Enter key.

Step 9: Close the command window. Press Ctrl-ALT-DELETE keys and then select “Restart”.

Step 10: Login Windows 10 with the new admin account.

Step 11: Press “Win+R” keys and type “netplwiz”. Press Enter key to open “User Accounts” dialog. Select your user account from list and then check “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” option and then click “Apply”.

Step 12: Uncheck “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” and then click “Apply”. When it ask you to enter the user account password, type the password twice and then click “OK”. Close the “User Accounts” box and then restart the computer.

 

Solution 4: Use Windows Password Rescuer to Reset Windows 10 Login Password or Create New Admin Account without Login. (If you cannot log into Windows 10 at all, use this solution.)

If you cannot login Windows 10 in normal mode or safe mode, you can use Windows Password Rescuer to reset your user account password without login or create a new admin account for Windows 10. Then you can regain access to the computer and fix the password incorrect error bug. Here is how to use Windows Password Rescuer Personal to reset Windows 10 admin password without login.
