Solution 1: Use Your Password Reset Disk to Help Recover Lost Password of Local Admin Account.

To recover Windows server 2022 local user account password, a created password reset disk is the best choice. When you create a local user account password protected, you can create a password reset disk to back up the user info. This password reset disk can be used to recover the user password if you lost your password in future. It is very easy to use.

Step 1: After you entered a wrong password in sign in screen, Windows server 2022 will give you a link for resetting your password. Just insert your password reset disk now and open the password reset link.

Step 2: A password reset wizard will be launched. Click “Next” button.

Step 3: In this step, you need to firstly select the password reset disk you inserted from the drive list. Drop down the list and then select it. Click “Next” button.

Step 4: Now you are able to choose a new password for your local user account without the old password. Then click “Next” button.

Step 5: The new password is now working. Click “Finish” to close the password reset wizard. In next sign in, you must use the new password.

 

Solution 2: Use Offline NT Bootable CD to Recover Windows Server 2022 Local Admin Password.

If you have forgotten your Windows server 2022 local admin password and password reset disk was not created, an external bootable created with Offline NT Password Editor can be used to recover your local user account password. This procedure will show you how to do this.

Step 1: Search for Offline NT Password Editor and free download it on an available computer. Use CD burner attached in Windows 7 or above versions to burn Offline NT iso file onto a writable CD. After creating a bootable CD, put the CD into your server computer.

Step 2: Hit F2/delete key repeatedly while restarting the server computer. When you get the following screen, press down key to highlight CD-ROM option and then press Enter key to continue boot.

Step 3: Press a key to boot from your CD.

Step 4: Recover your Windows server 2022 local admin password:

1. Wait Offline NT Password Editor run on the computer. When the following screen appears, type “1” and press Enter key.

2. Screen scrolls down. Type “1” and press Enter key again.

3. Next, type “1” and press Enter key to select “Edit user data and passwords” option.

4. All local user accounts will be list. Type your admin account name and then press Enter.

5. Type “1” and press Enter key. The admin password will be cleared.

6. Password cleared. Type “!” and press Enter key.

7. To select “Quit” option, type “q” and press Enter key.

8. You need to save changes. Type “y” and press Enter key.

9. Type “n” and press Enter key to exit the program.

10. Now press CTRL-ALT-DELETE keys at the same time. Wait computer reboots and load Windows server 2022. Then you can sign in the admin account without password.

 

Solution 3: Use Another Admin Account to Help Recover Your Lost Domain Admin Password.

If you use Windows server 2022 as domain controller and unfortunately lose your domain admin password, password reset disk and Offline NT program cannot work for you. But it is easy to recover your domain admin password when you have another administrator account available on your server computer. Here is how:

Step 1: login Windows server 2022 with another admin account.

Step 2: On “Server Manager”, drop down “Tools” menu and then select “Active Directory Users and Computers”.

Step 3: Under your domain name, select “Users” folder. Right-click your admin account and then select “Reset Password”.

Step 4: Set a new password for the account. Click “OK”.

Step 5: The password for your account has been changed. Click “OK”. You are now able to sign in the admin account with the new password.

 

Solution 4: Use Rescuer Bootable USB to Recover Windows Server 2022 Local/Domain Admin Password Easily without Affecting Any Data.

If you have forgotten Windows server 2022 domain admin password and it is the only administrator on your server computer, solutions mentioned above don’t work for you. You can follow this guide to use a bootable USB to help recover your domain admin password easily.

Step 1: Use another computer to download and install Windows Password Rescuer Advanced full version. Then launch the software. Plug a blank USB flash drive into the current computer and choose “USB Device” option from the software.

Step 2: Drop down the drive list and then click “Begin Burning” button. Select “Yes” when a confirm message pops up.

Step 3: When burning successfully completes in about one minute, unplug the USB flash drive.

Step 4: Insert the USB to your locked server computer and then boot the computer from it. (Read more about this step if your need help.)

Step 5: Wait the server computer boots from USB and loads Windows Password Rescuer. When the following screen appears, select your Windows server 2022.

Step 6: Select your local/domain administrator account.

Step 7: Click “Reset Password” button. Select “Yes” when a confirm message pops up.

Step 8: The administrator password has been reset to new.

Step 9: Click “Reboot”. Unplug the USB flash drive when a confirm message pops up. Select “Yes” to reboot the computer.

Step 10: After that, you will be able to sign in the domain administrator with the new password.
