How to Reset Password on Gateway Laptop Windows 10 If Forgot

Part 1: Recover Password for Gateway Laptop Windows 10 by Using USB.

9. Type in “cd windows” and then press “Enter”.

11. Type in “ren utilman.exe utilman_bak.exe” and then press “Enter”.

12. Type in “copy cmd.exe utilman.exe” and then press “Enter”.

13. Type in “wpeutil reboot” and then press “Enter”. The laptop will restart automatically.

14. Once the Windows 10 login screen appears, select your user account and then click “Ease of access” to run “utilman.exe”.

15. Utilman window is opened.

16. Type in “net user” and then press “Enter”. All local user accounts of Windows 10 will be displayed.

17. Use command “net user [username] [newpassword]” to reset your user account’s password. For example, type in “net user administrator Pass123456” and then press “Enter”, the administrator’s password will be reset to “Pass123456”.

18. Now close the utilman window and then you are able to use the new password to log on Windows 10 as administrator.

Part 4: Reset Your Gateway Laptop Windows 10 to Factory Setting.
