5. Burning process will be completed fast. After that, close the software and unplug the USB. Now you can use the USB disk to reset Windows password on any other computer.

Step 2: Use the USB to reset Windows 7 admin password and unlock your ThinkPad laptop.

2. Once the ThinkPad laptop successfully boots from USB, it will load Windows Password Rescuer. Select Windows 7 from system list. All Windows 7 user accounts will be displayed in list.

3. Select your admin account from user list.

4. Click “Reset Password” button and confirm.

5. The unknown password will be turned to “blank”.

6. Now unplug your USB flash drive and then click “Reboot” button. Click “Yes” when a confirm message pops up. The laptop will restart and load Windows 7 normally.

7. When Windows 7 login screen appears, select your admin account to unlock your ThinkPad laptop without password.

 

Method 2: Use a Pre-Created Windows 7 Password Reset Disk.

Why we call it pre-created password reset disk? Because the disk must be firstly created before you losing password. In Windows 7 system, everyone can use a CD, DVD or USB to create a password reset disk from Control Panel. Your user account details will be stored in the disk. When you lost the user account password in future, you can use the pre-created password reset disk to reset the forgotten password easily.

So, if you have previously created a Windows 7 password reset disk for your admin account, now follow the steps given bellow to reset Windows 7 admin password on your ThinkPad laptop.

Step 1: Turn on your ThinkPad laptop. When Windows 7 login screen appears, select your admin account. Click log on button. It will tell you that the password is incorrect. Click “OK”. There will be a “Reset password” link under the password box. Now insert your Windows 7 password reset disk to the laptop and then click the reset password link.

Step 2: Windows 7 password reset wizard is open. Click “Next”.

Step 3: The password reset disk will be shown in the drive list. Pull down the list and select it. Then click “Next”.

Step 4: Type a new password in the “New Password” box and then type it again in the “Confirm password” box. Then click “Next”.

Step 5: The original password will be replaced with the new one. Click “Finish” to close the wizard. Then you can use the new password to unlock your ThinkPad laptop Windows 7.

 

Method 3: Use Windows 7 Magnifier from Login Screen.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to replace Magnifier with CMD tool and then we can run commands to reset Windows 7 password without knowing it. So, you can follow this to reset ThinkPad laptop password Windows 7 when you forget your administrator password no reset disk.

Step 1: Boot your ThinkPad laptop from an official Windows 7 installation disk. When Windows install screen appears, click “Next”.

Step 2: In next screen, click “Repair your computer” link from the left corner.

Step 3: All Windows systems installed in your laptop will be shown in list. Select “Windows 7” and then click “Next”.

Step 4: In the “System Recovery Options” dialog, click “Command Prompt”.

Step 5: Now run the following commands to replace “Magnifier” with “cmd.exe”. (Press “Enter” key after each command.)

1. d: (Note: please replace “d” with “c” if your Windows 7 was installed on C drive.)

2. cd windows

3. cd system 32

4. copy magnify.exe magnify.exe.old

5. copy cmd.exe magnify.exe

Step 6: After that, close the CMD window and then click “Restart” button.

Step 7: Laptop restarts and load Windows 7. In the login screen, click “Ease of Access” icon and then select “Make items on the screen larger (Magnifier)” option.

Step 8: When click “OK”, a command window will be opened. Now type “net user” and then press “Enter”, all Windows 7 user accounts are displayed.

Step 9: To reset your admin account password, use the following command: “net user [user name] [new password]”. For example, when you type “net user Aimee Pass123” and then press “Enter”, the admin account Aimee’s password will be changed to “Pass123”. After that, you can use the new password to unlock your ThinkPad laptop Windows 7.
