Step 1: On the Windows 8.1 login screen, press “Shift” while clicking the “Restart” button.
Step 2: On the “Choose an option” screen, tab or click “Troubleshoot”.
Step 3: On the “Troubleshoot” screen, tab or click “Advanced options”.
Step 4: On the “Advanced options” screen, tab or click “Startup Settings”.
Step 5: Next, click “Restart” button in the lower-right of the screen to restart the computer. Then you can change Windows options like that listed on the screen.
Step 6: “Startup Settings” screen appears, press “6” on your keyboard to boot in Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
Step 7: Select a working admin account and enter your password.
Step 8: Wait for restating until the Command Prompt window appears on the screen. Type “net user” and then press “Enter”. All Windows 8.1 user accounts will be displayed. Type “net user Bob 123456” and then press “Enter”. The user’s password will be changed to 123456. Please replace the user name with yours.
Step 9: Now press CTRL-ALT-DEL keys and then restart the laptop in normal mode. Then you can use the new password to unlock your HP laptop Windows 8.1.
Method 3: Use Hiren’s Boot CD to Unlock HP Laptop Windows 8.1 without Password.

Step 9: If you want to remove another user account’s password, redo step 6-7. Or type “!” and then press “Enter” to select quit.
Step 10: It will return to step 6. Type “q” and then press “Enter” to quit.
Step 11: To save changes, type “y” and then press “Enter”.
Step 12: To finish, type “n” and then press “Enter”.
Step 13: Now remove your bootable CD and then press CTRL-ALT-DEL keys. The laptop will restart and then sign into administrator account automatically without password. From now on, you can unlock your HP laptop Windows 8.1 without password.
