Step 4: Windows install screen appears. Select “English” if there are multiple language in the installation. Then click “Next”.

Step 5: Click “Repair your computer”.

Step 6: It will show you where your Windows 7 installation is. It is on D: drive in this guide. Click “Next” to continue.

Step 7: On the “System Recovery Options” screen, click “Command Prompt”.

Step 8: Command Prompt window is open. Use the following commands to replace “sethc.exe” with “cmd.exe”.

1. Type “d:” and then press “Enter”. Note: If your Windows 7 Enterprise is installed on C: drive, replace “d:” with “c:” in this command.

2. Type “cd windows” and then press “Enter”.

3. Type “cd system32” and then press “Enter”.

4. Type “ren sethc.exe sethc_bak.exe” and then press “Enter”.

5. Type “copy cmd.exe sethc.exe” and then press “Enter”.

Step 9: Close the command prompt window and then click “Restart”.

Step 10: When the Windows 7 welcome screen appears, hit “Shift” key five times to run “sethc.exe”. In the sethc window, type in “net user” and then press “Enter”. You will see all user accounts including the built-in administrator of Windows 7 Enterprise.

Step 11: To activate the built-in administrator, type in “net user administrator /active:yes” and then press “Enter”. To reset its password, type in “net user administrator 123456” and then press “Enter”.

Step 12: Now the built-in administrator is activated and the password has been changed to 123456. Close the sethc window and then restart the computer.

Step 13: When the Windows 7 Enterprise welcome screen appears, you will see the built-in administrator account is displayed in front of your user account. Now you can use the new password to log on administrator and unlock your Windows 7 Enterprise!
